Come & Try with WorldSkills Queensland
The Careers and Employment Expo allows people to gain expert advice on a range of trades
and engage directly with industry experts as they demonstrate their workplace skills.
WorldSkills Queensland is facilitating a showcase of trades and other career pathways to help expo visitors, particularly soon-to be school leavers, make informed vocational choices. WorldSkills Australia and its state-based bodies drive skills excellence in vocational, technological and service oriented careers. They have raised the awareness of hundreds of thousands of young Australians and their parents, along with employers, that our nation’s future depends on effective skills training systems.
Eric Davis, State Manager for WorldSkills Queensland, said a range of training organisations, peak industry bodies, and industry representatives will be participating with hands on displays at the expo.
They include TAFE Queensland, Academies Australasia Hair & Beauty, Queensland Tourism Industry Council, OSMAC Apprenticeships, Brick & Block Careers and the Aussie Painters Network.
“Trades on display range from Hairdressing, Fashion and Hospitality to Carpentry, Automotive, Surveying and Bricklaying,” Eric said. “You can see the tradespeople in action, so it provides an excellent opportunity to gain an insight into the training and skills required to pursue particular careers.
“Qualified trainers and tradespeople explain the skills and qualifications necessary to fulfil individual career aspirations across a wide spectrum of vocations. “In this way it contributes to building a skilled workforce across a number of industries.”
