Career pathways for government secondary students

Discover exciting career pathway possibilities at the Career Education and Pathways Hub, presented by the Department for Education. The Hub supports government school students to explore their VET in school options as part of their secondary program and learn about growing industries and try hands-on activities.

 

Industry-leading employers

Connect with employers from sectors including defence and space technologies, creative industries, agribusiness and food, construction, mining, electrotechnology and more. This is an incredible opportunity to explore career pathways, ask questions, and connect with employers.

 

VET in Schools

For government school students to explore VET pathways as part of a Flexible Industry Program (FIP). FIPs for government school-enrolled students provide an industry-endorsed pathway to entry-level employment, better preparing young people for real jobs, and providing a pipeline of young skilled workers for South Australia’s growing industry sectors.

Technical Colleges

Discover South Australia's Technical Colleges. Students in years 10 to 12 graduate career-ready, with their SACE, VET qualifications, and guaranteed career opportunities. With industry training programs designed and delivered in partnership with employers, students can go directly into a job, apprenticeship, traineeship, or further study. The brand-new, purpose-built facilities replicate real workplaces, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and technologies.

 

Aboriginal Pathways

Meet the Aboriginal Pathways team and learn about supported transitions into further education and employment. Aboriginal pathways programs provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students opportunities to:

• explore career pathways
• gain additional qualifications
• achieve sporting, creative arts and academic success
• connect to community and culture.

WorldSkills

Learn about WorldSkills 2026 and try hands-on plumbing, electrotechnology, and IT activities! The Department for Education WorldSkills VETiS competition enables eligible secondary school students to showcase their technical skills in real-world scenarios. Participants develop valuable communication and problem-solving skills, with top performers progressing to state competitions and possibly representing South Australia at the 2027 WorldSkills National Championships in Adelaide.
